Brianna, a frail werewolf princess, is guarded by Jaren and Colin, who vowed to marry her. They later make a wager, pretending to pursue Zoe to test her. Zoe exploits this, poisoning Brianna with peanuts. Blinded, Jaren and Colin abuse and imprison her. Desperate, Brianna flees to Marcus, the Vampire Monarch—her childhood betrothed. He heals her, sees her suffering, and marries her. At their wedding, Jaren, Colin, and Zoe are stunned to see the bride is Brianna.
